will definitely help me to achieve this. I found something online today
that outlines what a successful PhD student is:
For the right type of person, getting a Ph.D. is a great idea. Whatever
the field of study, there are some characteristics common to successful
Ph.D. students. They tend to:
~Enjoy learning for learning's sake
~Be willing to work very hard for many years with only a possible payoff
later
~Be persistent (never give up)
~Like intellectual challenges
~Enjoy an academic environment
~Enjoy scholarly discussions
~Have excellent command of undergraduate coursework
~Be willing to give up some parties and other pastimes to do research
~Be willing to live on a tight budget for many years or have outside
income
If being a Ph.D. student sounds like a monk-like existence, that's
because in some ways, it is.
As big of a DORK as I can be, I really want to do this!! So the next
step is finding a school with a good reputation, flexible class schedule
and close to home. Probably not an online school this time, but I'm open
to looking at all my options...
One day I will be Dr. Hoss...(yes)

YAY! I am glad you are looking back into pursuing this! And you are right, it is a monk like exsistance...you also need to be a little sadistic to do it too...but it will all be well worth the late nights of beating your head against the wall wondering why your dissertation question keeps getting revised...and then there are the times your friends pick on you for having homework so much...in the end, you can make them all call you Doctor...but I am biased ;)
